This is so true for me. I may chat with most, but I truely open up to people who I feel can influence me and that I can influence as well. Please understand, when I say "truely open up" I mean, people that I can tell reveal my flaws and trials too. Just as I think of it, I only surround myself with positive people. They are people that I make true effort to venture with. They are people that I call consistently. And they are people that are interested in the triumphs in my life, not just the trials. Its so simple and it took me forever to build bridges and distance with those that don't compliment me. I love the fact that I can talk to those individuals when ever I feel like it and not be influenced by their chatter the least bit. I also like the fact that I can be cordial and friendly. I'm not perfect and sometimes I fall into it, but I'm still learning and remaining genuine in my conversation.
