International: Drawers, money, and family?

A London mother reported her 9 year-old daughter missing on February 19Th. The police conducted a month long search, costing the West Yorkshire Police $4.7 million. Fortunately they found the young girl, alive, hidden in a drawer under a bed along with her mother!

Motive: The mother and an uncle of the young girl planned to report the girl missing, keep her captive long enough for the reward money to increase to their desired amount, and then miraculously find her, and collect the reward money- $73,000.

Outcome: The uncle and the mother were officially charged and found guilty of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and perverting the course of justice.

Couldn't she just created some type of business venture or search for a child that was really missing with the hopes of being successful and collecting the reward money. Sounds so much easier!
