Bell, of whom I'm not related too, shot himself in the chest days after being arrested on shoplifting charges. Bell's condition has not been revealed. The Monroe, LA police department believes Bell was upset due to being in the media over his arrest and shot himself. It was never said whether this was considered a suicide attempt or not.
