I am putting this up in hopes for individuals to understand the importance of voting, from a historical point of view. Its not about who one is voting for or why they are voting for any particular candidate. That information is not my business, nor anyone else's. This posting is to remind all human beings that it wasn't until 1868, 140 years ago, that black men were able to participate in the US election voting process. It wasn't until 1920 that women of any race could participate in the US election voting process. My ability to vote on November 4th, probably the most important election of my lifetime, will not only be a privilege as an African-American, but an honor, only because people before me fought to give me an opportunity to step into a voting booth regardless of my creed, color, and/or sex. This is why I am posting this entry. SHOW UP!
My advice: Educate yourself about the world. You DON'T have to travel to do this. Eat, drink, and visit things that are foreign to YOU. Engage yourself in your enemies and strangers, because you may actually grow to understand them and learn more about you. I promise you will learn to love yourself, accept yourself, and humble yourself a little more.
love,
